![]() Of course, the first thing you should do in a dental emergency is rush to the closest dentist. However, in some cases, you might not be able to reach someone. If you have a dental emergency and you cannot reach a dentist, there are some things you can do to help manage the crisis. Visit the Emergency RoomIn the event that you cannot reach a dentist, your closest emergency room will be the next best option for you. While the medical professionals there are not dentists, they can still take steps to stabilize you and even treat the condition. If your tooth has been knocked out, be sure to take it with you. If possible, try to gently place it back in its socket. If you cannot do this, then put it in some milk to keep the root moist, and bring it with you. Be sure to avoid touching the root, as there are periodontal ligaments attached to it and these ligaments are easily damaged. Other Considerations When you go to the emergency room, try your best to keep calm. Although you will be in pain and probably suffer from some anxiety, keep in mind that you are in the best place possible at the moment. The personnel in the emergency room are trained to handle a wide range of crises, and they will do their best to get you up and running again.
